0.5 FTE ESL (English as Second Language) Teacher
The specific weekly schedule will be determined in collaboration with administration; however, the 0.5 FTE commitment must be distributed across at least four workdays each week.

We are seeking an English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher to join our team. The ESL Teacher supports the academic and language development of multilingual learners by providing targeted instruction, collaborating with classroom teachers and school leaders, and fostering strong partnerships with families to ensure student success and connection to the school community.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Designs dynamic lessons to assist students in learning and gaining confidence with English using RPS’s approved ESL curriculum as the core resource
- Provides instruction in small groups, differentiating based on student backgrounds, identities, needs, interests, English proficiency, and grade level
- Utilizes culturally responsive teaching practices to create a nurturing and empowering learning environment
- Advocates for the unique needs of multilingual learners within the school and wider community
- Assesses incoming and existing students’ English language proficiency
- Maintains and shares records of student progress and other required paperwork
- Communicates and collaborates with parents, school service providers, and other educators to inform instruction and foster student growth
- Encourages parental involvement and engagement
- Enhances teaching strategies and professional competence through active participation in in-service trainings and seminars.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of language development and strategies for teaching language
- Culturally responsive and experience working with multilingual and immigrant families
- Ability to use a flexible and adaptive teaching style
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, English as a Second Language, Education, or related field required; Master’s degree highly preferred.
- Massachusetts teacher licensure required; seeking candidates licensed in both PreK-6 and 5-12, with PreK-6 preferred
- Knowledge of WIDA 2020 Standards/ACCESS for ELLs testing and interpretation
