General Areas of Responsibility:
- To facilitate the coordination and implementation of home and school goal areas.
- To provide direct instruction to student in accordance with IEP goals/objectives identified for home based education program implementation.
- To provide instruction to parents/caregivers in strategies likely to improve a child’s performance and functioning in targeted goal areas.
- To help parents develop and implement routines likely to promote the targeted child’s growth and progress.
Specific Job Tasks / Areas of Responsibility:
- Schedules home visits at times instruction in targeted areas can occur.
- Develops/maintains/implements data collection systems related to target goal areas and instructs/coaches parents in relevant data collection methods/systems.
- Develops/maintains data collection systems to record student/parent participation and progress.
- As needed, observes student in school setting, consults with pertinent school staff to ensure coordination of strategies/goals and to facilitate communication between school and home.
- Works directly with student to model strategies, provides direct teaching of skills, and regularly assesses performance and progress.
- Prepares reports as may be requested by school personnel and/or to reflect progress towards goals/objectives (at least 3 x annually per child.)
- Participates in Team meetings to offer insights into student progress and needs; may also be required to write/contribute to IEP development.
- Enters data into Excel spreadsheet and creates graphs for Team members to review and analyze to monitor progress.
- Makes adjustments to education programs/lesson plans/ protocols, as may be needed based upon data review and/or direction from BCBA.
- Maintains professional relationship with parents/guardians and directs questions or concerns to appropriate school personnel.
Work Schedule:
Afternoons, evenings, and/or weekend days, general parameters to be determined by Director of Student Services and/or BCBA; specific schedule to be developed through mutual agreement with parent(s) of assigned students, and in accordance with IEPs, and can include summer months. |
